Why SERVPRO Give Till it ...... SERVPRO Helping with a rebuild for a well deserving Grandmother. This was a project withThe Religious Coalition For Community Renewal.

A lot of people like to quote Mother Teresa and tell you to “Give, but give till it hurts”. At SERVPRO, we lean more towards the advice of Dr. Dennis P Kimbro, PH.D. who said “Don’t give until it hurts, give until it feels good.”

One of the most important items that we task ourselves with is to give back to the community. Our faithful clients have helped transform us from that 2 bay garage in Pinch, WV with its 2 employees to the multiple location 25+ employee business it is today. SERVPRO of North Kanawha Valley would not be where it is today as an industry leader in the Charleston, WV area without the faithful partners that have entrusted us with their restoration and cleaning needs.

This brings us to the dilemma of how do we effectively give in a way that will have the most impact on the issues facing our community.

After a lot of research, we found several agencies that we felt have their finger on the pulse of the issues facing the people of our area.

The longest lasting relationship we have had over the years is with the Union Mission. The folks at Union Mission feed the less fortunate in 28 counties in West Virginia as well as help those in need with clothing and other essentials, that sometimes we take for granted, in 17 counties. The other agency that we have supported for many years is The United Way of Central WV. Through their efforts they are empowering kids at risk to graduate, they are helping single moms learn new job skills, providing dental care, making substance abuse treatment and recovery a reality. There are certain events that happen in our lives that call for people that are highly trained in their profession.

New Math

Why SERVPRO New Math Highly trained local employees make a big difference in the quality of workmanship.

No, this is not some weird “new math” countdown. These numbers represent the years of service of some of our great employees. That length of service accounts for countless certifications, tons of hands on experience, and extensive training in all areas of the restoration industry, as well as the construction trades.

Employee retention is one of the many positives of a locally owned and operated business. We find that out-of-state companies may not hire in-state employees at all and if they do hire our people, they typically don’t find the same loyalty as an employee working for a local company because they are more concerned with the bottom dollar and not necessarily the health and wellbeing of their employee as well as the impact those employees have on our local communities and economy.

When local companies hire within their community it is usually a win, win situation. Employees are typically better compensated as far as pay, benefits, and more flexible scheduling, which in turn translates not only into more money being put back into the local economy, but also more time put back into volunteering and community involvement as well as a healthier community overall. The local company is in turn compensated with a more faithful and dedicated employee who is more willing to go the extra mile for their customers.
